Thanks to the GC Bulletin for covering the Nicole Arrowsmith for Moncrieff launch.
The launch was a great success promoting a clear vision for the future of the Gold Coast and 12 key policy priorities. As the article highlights, the focus is on the 5 key issues that are impacting our community the most: housing, cost of living, transport, environment and the economy.
“There’s not one simple solution, but we will certainly be prioritising some key actions,” [Nicole] said.
“I want to see developers incentivised to do right-size housing that includes housing that families and first-time buyers and young people can get into.
“I want to see immediate protections for renters, including incentivising long term leases, because renters are really hurting right now in our community, and I want to see reduced barriers to entry for young people entering the market.”
Ms Arrowsmith she wasn’t a career politician and never expected to be doing “this job” this year.
“I care deeply about our community. So when I was touched on the shoulder to do this, it was obviously a big decision that took quite a lot of consideration – but I’ve always put community first, and I genuinely believe that this is the best thing for Gold Coasters.”
