This Sunday we launched the campaign for Moncrieff. With the room full of supporters at Kurrawa Surf club, in the heart of the Gold Coast, we discussed the 12 policy priorities that have been made in consultation with our community and experts. Within that we tackle the five biggest issues effecting our community Housing, Cost of Living, Transport, the environment and our economy. I ask you this: When was the last a major party consulted our community on their policies?
A key talking point is that year on year the LNP primary is going down, without any real challenger.
We have 20 per cent of people who are disengaged, that’s a big number, we’ve got a further 5.7 per cent of people messing up their vote card.
Our demographic is changing rapidly and our government needs to change to. This is winnable.
When our representation, becomes complacent, takes people for granted, rests on their laurels. They create a gap. An opportunity for someone else to step in and start doing the job better.
We currently have the largest cross bench in modern history, with a further 38 community backed independents around the country challenging this election.
The polls tell us, this will be, a minority government and that cross bench will be holding all the cards.
We want Moncrieff to have a seat at that table. It’s time for us to have someone that will stand up for our community, that represents us and will finally fight for us to start getting our fair share.
We’re done with the same old, same old.
Thank you to all that attended the launch. We are ready to go!
